Frequently Asked Questions

We believe in what we do and we want you to believe in us. Therefore transparency is one of our core principles.
We hope you find your questions answered below. If not, just ask us.

1. What is Doonited about?

Doonited is a global movement of people that do small good actions in their everyday life, to cultivate a positive and responsible lifestyle as the basis for a peaceful society. Doonited raises social awareness by showing how everyone can do good, every day, through simple actions.

The DailyGood is the centerpiece in Doonited's formula, a formula that inspires real-life impact: small actions x many people = big impact.
Doonited is about one good action per day - do small, change big.

The impact can be of a social nature, an ecological one, or even of a personal kind.
We believe the positivity generated by our community's good actions can change the world we live in.

2. What is a social business?

A social business is a cause-driven business. The impact of the business on people or the environment (rather than the amount of profit made) in a given period of time, measures the success of a social business. In a social business, the investors or owners can gradually recoup the money invested, but cannot take any dividend beyond that point. The purpose of the investment is purely to achieve one or more social objectives through the operation of the company.

3. What is the social impact of Doonited?

Doonited raises social awareness by showing how everybody can do good Doonited's goal is to grow into a global movement of people that incorporate good actions in their daily lives. Our social impact is directly related to this, since we see ourselves as a vehicle that promotes and raises social awareness. We wish to show our community that doing simple, good actions every day, inspires more people to take action.

4. So, I have to do one good action a day, if I want to be part of Doonited?

Absolutely not. We encourage you to do good, and inspire you with a suggestion everyday, but you should do good whenever you feel like it. Maybe - hopefully - you'll feel like doing good more often thanks to Doonited. Anyway, on some days it's O.K. if the only thing you do is just breathe.

5. How do you define „doing good“?

For us, doing good is a reflection of a positive mindset. When this positivity is put into action, a good behavior emerges (consciously or unconsciously).
This behavior, based on good values, spreads joy and happiness, without harming anyone. It can be a random act of kindness towards a stranger or a responsible gesture towards the environment. Being good is not always the easy choice, and can represent an important step.
We believe every person should define their own way of doing good, so we encourage you to suggest your own DailyGoods, tell your personal stories, or share other social activities you engage in, that you feel contribute to a better world.

6. Does Doonited work internationally?

Doonited is a global movement, with international reach, born in Berlin (Germany).
Many activities are located in Berlin, as this is where most of us live and operate. However, people from around the world are doing the DailyGood, which is the beauty of this movement of unity and togetherness.
We encourage you to get even more involved, wherever you are. If you are interested in representing Doonited in your city or country, please get in touch with us. We are also working on translating the website into more languages soon.

7. How are you funded?

Up to the moment, all development costs have been covered by private funds, as organic growth is our priority.
We are happy and thankful for donations, but don't want to depend on them. Our business plan includes potential revenue streams that will allow us to finance the maintenance and expansion of Doonited in the future.
We are currently focussing on sponsorship of good deeds by companies, the "DailyGood-Sponsoring". If you're a company and would like to be a part of the Doonited movement, please visit our partner page for more details.

8. Do you work with other companies?

We cooperate with companies and organizations to make Doonited a sustainable social business and to maximize its impact. We select partners based on their identification with Doonited, and our code of conduct. Oh, and in case you're wondering, we will always stay independent, don't worry.

9. What do you do with possible revenues?

We started off full of passion and hope. Money has never been a motivation, and still isn't. For the time being, we are not making revenues as we are fully focussed on the social impact we are trying to achieve together with you, our community.
Possible future revenue will either be re-invested in Doonited, in order to boost the movement and its impact, or in other social causes. You will always hear about where the money is going, as we want to keep a transparent relationship with our community.

10. Who are the people behind Doonited?

You are. And the person next to you as well.
Oh, you mean who founded Doonited? Well, there's a small team of four who gave birth to Doonited and keeps on building the best base for it to grow and flourish. Oliver Stark is the vision behind Doonited.
Christian Stromann manages the finances and sales to make Doonited sustainable.
Johannes Schacht combines concept, design and function in perfection, he is the creative director, designer and developer.
Marco Alberti is taking good care of marketing and public relations to spread the word.

If you want to know more about our team and how we came together, please visit our About page.

11. What about censorship?

Doonited believes in freedom of speech, the community will "steer" itself and foster a respectful and peaceful sense of togetherness. However, Doonited reserves the right to censor content of discriminating nature that is reported by the community.
For details please refer to our code of conduct.

12. How do you check if people have actually done their DailyGood?

We don't. And we don't intend to.
Doonited is a movement you should identify with and become part of if you wish. Nobody is pressured to join and there is no motivation for people to "fake" their actions, as this will not result in a good feeling in return.

13. I forgot my password, what should I do?

No worries, happens to the best of us.
Simply click "forgot my password" in the login page and you will receive an email to reset it. See you back soon!

14. What are all the little hearts for?

Hearts stand for love... Clicking a heart means that you love a story or a comment. Or maybe you simply just agree with it. Or you like to see pink hearts everywhere. It’s basically the same as a Facebook "like", but different :)

15. What do the "level" and "badges" stand for in my profile?

If you're a registered user, you will receive a Drop for every DailyGood completed. The amount of Drops you collect defines the level you are in. The level gives you a Doonited Status - for example "Doonited Ambassador".
We're also developing a badge system. If, for instance, you mainly do ecological DailyGoods, you'll get the "Eco-Badge".
We're working on giving the DailyGoods a playful twist with this system of drops, badges and statuses. Maybe in the future, this will give users different opportunities and advantages. We have a bucket full of ideas on how to develop this concept, but since we have limited resources and a clear list of priorities, this system is still under construction. We'll keep you updated - thanks for your patience.

16. What does it mean to follow someone?

You can follow people on Doonited if you like their profile or stories. Following someone means you will see their latest stories in your profile, so you don't miss out on them.
Other people can follow you too, so inspire them with your stories to think and do good!

17. Can I choose how often I receive email notifications from Doonited?

Yes, you can. Go to your profile and simply click on settings to adjust your email notifications frequency. Click "save" to make sure they are set.

18. When will you add new features to the website?

What you see is just our beta version, we realize some useful functions are still missing. Believe us, we have a lot of good stuff in the pipeline.
But Jay is all by himself designing and programming this site - if you can support with graphic design, ruby on rails, java script, html5 or collaborative github development, please let us know.
